spdsk8r
With the wealth of knowlege on this site, please tell me what you can about a '92 LT-5. I think it's a 305. Is it a TPI? Also tell me is it a good or bad choice for a conversion. Thanks ahead for your input.
Guest greimann
It was a rare ZR-1 quad cam Corvette motor, 5.7L. Not practical for a standard swap. http://www.hybridz.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002708#000001
Mudge
Absolutely not a 305, and not practical for ANYTHING nowdays. The LS1 with good heads (aka the LS6) can make the same power with less PITA factor, and no $25,000 cost for engine aquirement either, although I have seen maybe one for 15k. If you have the dough get an LS1 and hop it up further if you really want that kind of power, or more, they will make great power with a small cam, same power as an LT1 with about a 10º smaller cam in a ported heads LS1 versus LT1, which means more driveability. spdsk8r
I'm not even considering this for a swap. I was just curious. Had a "joker" with a 92 Camaro for sale tell me it had a LT-5 Corvette 305 in it. Since I wasn't familiar with that option I couldn't call him on it. NOW I CAN! Thanks. Dan Baldwin
No Corvette ever had a 305 other than prototypes and test mules. The LT-5 is around 350 c.i. Visually a totally different powerplant than the 305/350. Wonder if this is the same guy with the 8-rotor NASCAR motor in his Eclipse?
