fl327
A buddy of mine is getting ready to upgrade the turbo on his typhoon, which currently runs high 13s, and I am going to pickup his turbo and air to water ic as he is going air to air on a big pte turbo. Im wondering if anyone knows if the flange on a mitsubishi(td06-17g) is compatible with garret, or knows if someone out there makes a flange for adapting a mitsubishi turbo to go where a garret was. At the worst, I would have a mitsubishi flange welded to stock manfold. ON the typhoon this turbo is a 60 ft killer, its factory internal gated at 14psi and flows 550cfm, oil and water cooled. Im planning another car with fuel management good enough to run that 14psi more at least the first couple thousand miles Thanx guys.
z-ya
I met a guy at the San Antonio convention that had run a Typhoon turbo on a L28ET. He said it was a great turbo, especially since he got his hands on one real cheap. The intake and exhaust plumbing was different, but the 4 bolt turbine inlet flange was the same. Doug71zt
Pete - Was it Steve Webb? He had been running a Typhoon turbo for a while - not sure of the present state of his car. I had a look at it in Arlington when I was at Bell Helicopter for a course about 8 years ago. He was putting down some pretty good numbers with it. FL - I'll try to find the links for this. http://zhome.com/rnt/StealthZ/swebbA1A.htm There are couple of parts to the story on his car. He seems to have got it on there with just a spacer to make the compressor clear the manifold and some clocking/ messing with the wastegate linkage. You could probably email him for the specifics. He's a nice guy, an aircraft mechanic, was working on Learjets when I met him. Let us know how it goes - Doug
z-ya
Yes, I think it was Steve, but he has a Garett hybrid turbo on there now I think. Nice, and really knowlegable about turbo Zs. He was also at the LA convention this year and ran his car on the big track at Willow Springs. Pete

fl327
Thanks for the link, well if Corky Bell says it bolts up with a spacer and some reclocking, well then it probably does!
