innerware
O.k. so a while ago I was told that my rear drums are too small to turn again. It was over a year ago. Now I am hearing some rear brake noise and figure it is time to replace the pads. I have never done it in over 3 years. They were fine though untill now. Anyway, Victoria British has drums for less $$$ than msa. But they offer cast iron and alum drums. Ten dollar difference. Is one better than the other. Both are finned and I figure I don't care about the weight. So will cast iron hold up better, or is alum better at heat disapation? Thought I would ask. I don't know if I will ever switch to rear disks but if I do it won't be for a while(years). Thanks in advance.....and I searched too. mark
For a street car I have always heard that the iron drums are better. They last longer and dont' flex like the aluminum ones will under hard braking. No personal experience here just passing along what I have heard over the years. Phantom
I have the combination iron/aluminum drums on the rear - for about 2 years now. Working great with almost no wear. I'm replacing them with a set of disk brakes over the next two months so someone is going to get a good set of drums for half price.
