Top End Speed

What kind of top end speed are you getting?

I am running a 350 small block with a R200 3.54 gears, seem like i am topping out a little too soon (oh yeah Saginaw 4 speed). What kind of 1/4 mile speed should i be seeing with this setup?

I think I have hit over 160, the car felt ok, but I guess there was a reason I let off, I was probably scared!!

with my old setup, a 327/four speed, with 3.54 r200 rear gears, i think i was cruising freeway at 60mph@2200-2500 or something, it sucked, but driving it on the street was awesome. the aerodynamics were ok, fastest i ever went was about 125mph, which is nuts because my rpm in fourth was beyone redline for a minute or so, onlyu tried that one once.

I am as Aero as i can get (see pic)i thionk it is the rear end gearing that i need to change a bit.

Daruis, if i can hit 160, that would be enough i think .

Just wanna top out in a quarter without blowing her up!!!

Yeah, aerodynamically, these cars aint exactly leading edge. To get some decent top end, you'd have to get the headlight covers, an aero front end, maybe drop the car a few inches, some kind of rear spoiler to keep the car more stable.

 

Then, you'll need an extra gear or 2 on your trannie. 5 or 6 speed manual or an auto with overdrive.
