Guest 2slo4u
Not trying to cause any stress but when I am working on my 81turbo zx and it is down, I have to drive my 95 "slowbaru" impreza. It is a 1.8 liter non-turbo and automatic trans. Does anyone know a helpful mod. to make it noticeably more peppy without NOS, turbo, or supercharger? It is dual sohc and I can't advance the valve timing, the valves will hit the pistons. Any help? It sucks getting blown away by KIAs and Hyundai's 95 slobaru impreza 81zxturbo
80LS1T
It is dual sohc and I can't advance the valve timing, the valves will hit the pistons. So is it a DOHC or SOHC? Cause unless its a V8 with a SOHC on each head, then I have no idea what a "dual sohc" is? I dont know if you can get a 1.8L more peppy with out a turbo, SC, or NOS? Not unless you got some $$$. wheelman
80LT1, The Subaru has a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder or boxer engine so it is in fact a dual SOHC. 1 for bank of pistons just like a V8. 2slo4u, Unfortunately I don't know any mods to pep it up, but I'm not a Subaru expert either. Maybe a cold air intake or advancing the spark timing. I know how you feel though, I had a mid 80s Subaru wagon and it was even worse than yours for power but I sure liked the 4 wheel drive in the winter. Guest Phailure
It would be pretty hard to make your suby noticably faster without spending alot of $$$. If the fact that its a 4 cylinder isnt bad enough, subaru parts are really expensive...
Guest 2slo4u
I can't adjust the timing, the crank angle sensor and cam sensor are stationary and mounted in holes on the block. I've checked out the Venom performance piggyback computer box and the guys that sell it say it will add 25% horsepower just by putting it on. (Incredible if true) but it costs $300 bucks. If I knew it actually worked, though I'd probably get it. Who knows, maybe I should keep it slow so when I drive the zx it'll seem that much faster, ha, ha. 81zxturbo 95 slowbaru impreza
