Hey guys. Im a teacher here in Texas and some of the boys in my class were talking about my little 87 toyota 2WD pickup. They know I love the Z cars and wish to do a JTR conversion some day. They started asking why I don't just do it on the little truck. That brings me to my question. What are problems with dropping a 283 or 305 in a little pickup like that? Any philosophizing is welcomed.

It's not an uncommon swap. I've seen pictures of several. A guy at my old job had an 85 HiLux with a 4.3 V6 in it. It was jacked up with giant tires. Guy in highschool had a Nissan pickup with an SBC. It was a ratty looking thing with crappy paint and steel rims. Sleeper. Used to bust on the pony cars. Right up until he totalled it.

Before you do, invest in goodyear, because I would imagine you'll be going through rear tires pretty quickly. Wouldn't the weight distribution end up being around 70/30 front/rear?

Sounds fun!

A project I am thinking about. Ebay #1871102700

I have a Mazda B2000 with a bad engine.

I will use a SBC, AT, cab back frame from a 1/2

ton & only 1 axel. It will put weight where it belongs & storage space up front.
