Heavy Z
Hello all, I just had my Holley 650 double pumper re-jetted to my specs - went from 67/73 to 64/71, also the power valve was changed. It now is running so horrible that it wants to die under 2,000 rpm and the gas petal has to be feathered or out it goes. Any ideas? Thanks, Brett
Guest greimann
Has to be a vacuum leak at either the carb gasket or a hose. Is everything hooked up exactly as before including PCV? . The jets and power valve have nothing to do with idle.
Heavy Z
Come to think of it, I did leave the hose unattached to the vacuum canister (is that what the black coffee can-looking thing is that's got a hose running to the back of the carb?) would that do it? I can't check because it caught fire in between my posts and now my engine bay is a winter wonderland thanks to a fire extinguisher. Any cleanup suggestions? Thanks, Brett
Guest greimann
Any small, loose hose can cause major idle problems. That charcoal hose sounds like a good possibility. As far as cleanup, I think you are on your own on that one! Sorry
Mike C
Also, if the carb was cleaned and adjusted in the shop they may have left the idle mixture screws fully seated. That would explain why it won't run at low speeds but only on the primary circuit. Start by turning the mixture screws out 1 1/2 turns from fully seated.
