JoeinCA
Alright, I want some more exaust clearance, and i wanted to give myself a good reason to redo my shoddy work on my fuel system. So i decided to build an aluminum fuel tank out of .090" aluminum. I could use a little advice about what sending units work with the datsun guage. The tank is going to be about 10" tall, but i dont know how tall the stock 280Z tank is. I think that i have the rest of it figured out. But the sending unit is a neccessity. I plan on driving this thing home from Wyoming. I would really appreciate any insight any of you may have. thanks, Joe
Jason Jarvis
The Summit tank I have sitting here is ~10 inches, so you should be able to use a standard (aftermarket fuel cell) sender if you do that. I'm changing gauges, so mine is a GM sending unit. I remember seeing somewhere that one of the domestic styles was close enough that you could wire a resistor in and make the Datsun gauge work and be pretty colse to accurate. I'm pretty sure the GM guage range is very different, so it must be a Ford or VDO style.
