Guest PBooty
So I finally finished redoing my dash. NO MORE CRACKS!! Before: After..sorry bought the bad quality pictures. I finished at 12:30am..its kinda dark in my garage now. It's pretty ghetto though. I did it all with sandpaper, body filler, and spray paint
Mike kZ
Hate to tell you this, but body filler will not last. It's too stiff, and the rest of the dash is flexable, so it will crack again.
Guest PBooty
I only used a thing layer...it is still relatively nimble.... I hope this last long enough to give me time to find a adequate replacement. If all else fails, i'll just coat the thing with anti-Crack spray
2126
PBooty, Invest in a full dash cap. Remove as much of the stuff you put on the dash, right down to the original surface, do alot of test fitting with the full dash cap until it fits correctly, secure it as per instructions...........results, a dash that looks like a new original. You'll love it and ask yourself why you didn't do this in the first place. Good luck!

2126
Sorry to here about your problems with the dash cap. Just curious, how did it become warped and all wrinkled up? Others may learn from this. However, when properly done full dash caps look like a new dash. If you are interested and could use some help and or advise regarding the installation of a full dash cap, let me know......I'm about 45 minutes away from you. Guest PBooty
I believe that I followed the installation instructions exactly. I used the adhesive that came with the dash to mount it. I agree, the dash looked great, while it lasted. I believe it was last spring, i had left the car parked for 5 days or so. When I came back 2 sections of the cap bowed up. I'm guess it was caused by too much exposure to the sun. Odd though, I live in Santa Barbara where its never really too hot, and there was a lot of shade throughout the day. 80LS1T
I had a dash cap before I installed a new dash pad(in a ZX you can get just the padded part). I will agree that it looked good while it lasted but mine too warped. I think installed my wrong though. I applied the adhesive all over the place and by doing so it didnt let the cap flex at all. The instructions I got said to just put a little ways away from the edges all the way around and some here and there in the middle. Well since I didnt read the instruction till after mine warped I think I applied too much, as in I used the whole tube of adhesieve! I like my new dash pad a lot more though, but that costed a little over $400! And from what I saw the 240Z dashes were somewhere around $800 at the time(3 years ago) Guy
