rags
Is anyone using a Taurus 2 speed fan with an 83 zxt alternator? How many amps does a stock 83zxt alternator put out? Joe
Mike kZ
Not sure how much a ZX alt puts out, but I bet it's not much. The Taurus fan put out 130 amps when it starts, then goes to around 40 amps. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=37016
rags
Yeah I saw that. That's why I'm asking! I just got a fan and was going to mount it to a new cross flow aluminum rad i just got. I'm trying to figure out if this is going to cost me more than anticipated. Joe

rags
70 amp. Mike you are the man! Good thing I don't drive in the rain at night. Hopefully the remaining 40 or so amps will be okay for the TEC, and lights. Joe
Cody 82 ZXT
Try the 89 Maxima alt. They are 90 amps and are in the same case. The early 90's Maxima are in the 120 amp range but, the price really goes up. It's still way cheaper than buying an aftermarket high amp alternator. I pulled mine out of a 89 Maxima from the JY and had it tested. It's still working fine after 2 years of use. I was just going to use it as a core but, it turned out there was no need to spend the extra bucks.
