z ya
I just pulled my motor/tranny to change the converter and oil pan. Can I do a comp test with the motor on the stand? I still have the starer on it and figured I could jump the starter? Anyone do this and how?
Guest Anonymous
My local wrecking yard starts engines on the shop floor, so I think you would be alright on a stand. Maybe not a 3 legged K-Mart special, but a good one. My buddy said in college they started motors on a wood pallet. Maybe the closer to the ground the better..... Guest Anonymous
Do it like any other compression test. Hook your starter to a battery... jump the starter's battery terminal with a screw driver to the solenoid to crank the engine...then read the compresiion gauge.Probaly a better way to hook up a handheld starter switch to activate the starter solenoid
