Guest Rick Johnson
Just a quick note to follow up on two items: First, I had pushrod failures when using the Harlan Sharp roller rockers. I also believe that the problem was in a poorly machined pushrod cup insert. Since I changed to another brand (can't remember which) I have had no problems! Second, I had 1.65 rockers in my 383 with a 224 degree single pattern cam at .050. It seemed a bit cammy and dead around 2500 RPM. I switched only the intakes back to a 1.5 and immediately noticed an increase in around town driving torque. It also idled smoother and sounded less cammy. According to my extensively tested and repeated G-Tek measurement, I lost only 2 peak horse power. I never tried removing the exhaust rockers. In the back of my mind I think I am band aiding the exhaust system I am forced to run on my 240 Z
Mudge
Lower ratio rockers helps with low end bleedoff on big overlap cams, thats a known. Guys trying to pass smog will sometimes use break in rockers for this reason.
