Len
Hi Guys Haven't posted in sometime...got sidetracked with a 77 Fiat 124 spider work in progress. But can never git too far away from Hybrid... Question This guy at the machine shop that's boring my fiat block has a 1988 300 zx turbo he tore up. It ia an auto...has the rear end. I seem to remember the 88 is the LSD and both the MT and the Auto are 3.70. Am I right? Also is this the good upgrade I seem to remember you don't want to go with some years due to being the clutch type or Viscous coupling (don't remember which is better help me on this). If it is the good rear I'm thinking of buying it for my future 240Z 96 LT1 T-56 install....the stock rear for the Lt-1 was a 3.42 so that may gear the car down a bit but since I'll have the 6th gear that would compensate for that....? I believe my 83 turbo has 3.54 stock rear so maybe even to low of gearing for my turbo....What do you think Guys? And if its a good rear for my needs what is a fair price? Cody 82 ZXT
Seems like the units that I've seen go for about 400.00 give or take. I've seen on the high side 500 for a non rebuilt unit.
Guest Aaron
300ZX 84-86 MT and A/T (3.7) (R200)300ZX 84-86 Turbo MT and A/T (3.54) (R200) 300ZX 87-89 MT and A/T (3.9 ) (R200) 300ZX 87-89 MT and A/T (3.9 ) (R200) 300ZX 87-89 Turbo MT and A/T (3.7 ) (R200) Note Turbos: #1) after 4/87 only-(3.7 Clutch Type LSD) 2) 88 All White SS used a 3.7 Viscous Coupling LSD) 3) LSD Unites Came With Finned Rear Covers Additional Comments: a) Viscous Coupling LSD requires special splined half shafts - 84-87 R200's can be used in earlier cars, but require modifications they are not direct bolt in swapable to 240/260/280Z/280ZX's c) 84-89 R200's used a 12mm bolt in the ring gear - earlier R200 used a 10mm bolt in the ring gear, so you can not swap Gear Sets with the older R200's From here: http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/GearRatios.html
