Engines

It will all come down to what it is you are looking for. Easy install, high horsepower, high rev, light, cheap, carbed, FI, new, old, etc etc. Get the bible( V8 conversion manual written by Mike Knell from JTR) he documents what I would call the easiest swap with a non nissan engine that I have heard about. But I feel from reading stuff here that it is all a matter of opinion. I don't think two people here have the same engine exactly in there car that isn't stock.

Yea, allready ordered the JTR manual, should be here soon. I wanna use a 350 sbc but there a few available. Does it matter which one I use, and i'm talking about a crate engine, not a factory engine.

Please. You need to spend a lot of time reading existing posts and using the search function more extensively. I spent 6 months on this board before I started posting because there was so much information that helped me to decide how I actually wanted to go.

It's faster to ask the questions but you won't learn as much and you may miss the one post that would have made a big difference in your approach.

Just to throw in another "Please use the search function extensively" remark, I've been reading here for 2.5 years on this board, and I still don't even have a Z! I've almost finished rebuilding my truck which will give me the cash for a Z, so I hope to give myself a 240 for Christmas.

I plan on driving it for a year or two upgrading the stuff that needs it, while continuing to read and re-read here, to finally decide what I want to swap in. I'm debating LT1 (I can get a engine/6 speed/all electronics combo for about $2K-2.5K with 60K miles) and doing the basic bolt-ons on a V8 or building a hot L28ET. Still really have no clue what I wantjavascript:emoticon('')...

If you are bored reading about the same old engine swap, try searching for words or ideas you might not have given much thought yet, ie. fuel delivery, suspension, handling issues, body work, etc etc. That will get you a much wider spectrum of old posts, with more people contributing their experiences/problems with their respective set ups. What they like and don't like, what they feel they should have spent more or less money on, etc etc.

I have to agree with the 2 previous posts. Take your time and run thru all the previous topics and search topics. Be sure you do not rush into things, or things might not come out right(wasted money). Me personaly I would go with Ls-1 or a Rb26DETT, and you can find TONS and TONS of info on them using the search option.

What I think 280Z V8 meant was that there are quite a few SBC's available. No one is trying jump down your throat or anything, but the search function should be used extensively when in need of info. It's even cool to PM a member who may just provide you with info based on his/her experiences. No harm, no foul.
