I personally have seen no big gains from piston dome and combustion chamber coatings the few times Ive tried them, and don,t personally think they are worth the extra expense on engines most of us build for street strip use. http://www.msmoly.com/ http://www.sandstromproducts.com/Tigs/e720.pdf http://www.etoolcart.com/product.asp?3=
Rob
Thanks as always for the information Grumpy. Reading your posts is an education. I'm curious what your opinion is on gapless rings. They seem like the best thing since sliced bread but are there any problems or compromises with them? Seems like if they really have 1/10th the leakdown of conventional rings (2% vs 20% according to Total Seal) then everyone would use them including oems. Sorry if the answer is in the info, I read some but not all of it.
Mudge
My understanding is that past break in, they leak down just like normal rings. But I await an experienced answer with you
grumpyvette
Im useing TOTAL SEAL GAPLESS RINGS in my vettes 383 and have used them many times in the past, personally I doubt that they are really worth the extra price which can be 3 times as much but yes they do give you about an extra 7-10 hp (not what TOTAL SEAL CLAIMS) but still better than most conventional rings. its your choice, like I said yes they work, but the hp gain per dollar return at least from what Ive seen is minimal
Mudge
It always gets expensive going for that last little bit.
