sulla
I have a chance to buy a 260z or at least go look at it and see if it is what he says it is. Any way does any one know how much more the 260z ways I know the 280z is like 400 more. Also did all 260zs come with small bumpers like 240zs? Thanks for the help. Also this car is for a V8 swap. COZY Z COLE
My 2 cents is to look for a 280Z---- stronger frame set-up and body, all ready set for efi, and has a R-200 diff. The torque of a V-8 will make you glad did !! LARRY
A. G. Olphart
It is my understanding that the 260's were a work in progress... displacement not considered, the early ones were 240s with a new badge, the later ones had 280 configuration. sulla
Well guese I could just look at the weight on the doors after I drive up there. Hmm
TheNeedForZ
Weight and displacement of 1st gen Z cars are easy to remember 240Z about 2400 cc about 2400 lbs 260Z about 2600 cc about 2600 lbs 280Z about 2800 cc about 2800 lbs The weights are of the complete car, bumpers & etc all included 260Z&280Z have gas-oil cylinder assemblies for bumper shock absorbers. 280Zs have HEAVY bumpers. Lose the 4 pressure cylinders and use skinny bumpers and those later cars won't be that bad. But they are still heavier because the thicker skin. sulla
Also does any one know if the 240z coilover conversion kit I am trying to by used/new will work on the 260z? Or can I just get the parts I need of the 240z if it has the wrong size strut housings?
BillZ260
any one know if the 240z coilover conversion kit I am trying to by used/new will work on the 260z Depends on the 260, you can find the VIN number online somewhere farely easy, they you can see where they stopped making the 240 style, and started building the 280 stlye frames. The early's are a bulked up 240, have all the same suspension as the 240 but with a bit more bracing. The laters ones are a "light" 280 but will have the 280 strut tubes and such.
