chrismoose17
i decided to make my own mounts, because $300 from msa for mounts is alittle to much. anyway can i put the new mounts in the same location as the original motor or do i have to set them back? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. spdsk8r
chris... The ZX does not require a setback as the Z does. On my ZX I fabricated the spacers that go between the block and the Chevy truck mounts, recomended by JTR. If memory serves me right, the driver side spacer is 2.75" thick, and the passenger side spacer is 1.50" thick. If you want accurate measurements, tomorrow, I can go out to my car and measure. Here is a pic of my driver side mount.
labrat
chris... That looks almost exactly like the mounts I used in my 81 ZX with a 350. Spacers misaligned and all I painted mine orange like the motor, though. Both sides of mine ended up being more than 3" though. Used 3 plates on each side, and then some oversize nuts as a little more spacer. In case it's not clear from the photo, the spacers go between motor mount and block, and the motor mounts bolt right up to the frame horns.
