80LS1T
I need to get a MAF for my LT1 and I dont know if I should just get a used stock MAF or should I spend the money and get an aftermarket one? I just dont want to spend $250 for a MAF if I am not going to see really any gains in power. Thanks, Guy
240Z-DET
From what I've been researching, it seems as if modifying the stock MAF by removing the screens and installing a portedinlet/outlet will achieve the same HP. The gains I've found range from 0 to 1 RWHP. I was also looking at doing the same for my LT1 and it's money best spent elsewhere. One advantage may be a slightly quicker throttle response, but for $250, personally I'm skipping it.
Guest Phil1934
The LT1 MAF is twice as large as the Ford 5.0 so I'd say no. I just did a Ford with a bigger MAF only because it was calibrated to larger injectors so I could still run the Ford computer.
love-my-V8-280Z
I agree, I have read over and over that its not worth buying a larger MAS. Also have read that some people have regreted removing the fin and screen, I don't remember why...

80LS1T
I kinda figured that money would be better spent else where. I think I will just buy a stock one and leave it like that. Anybody have a stock one in good condtion lying around that they want to get rid of? Guy
