Guest izcc78
Which way do you install a stock manifold gasket on a 240Z? Does the flat metal install facing the exhaust manifold or does it install facing the cylinder head (or does it matter) Forgot to take pictures when I stipped the engine down..... Guest izcc78
Here is what I'm looking at Install Option 1 - flat metal facing exhaust manifold http://www.lee-thompson.com/DSC01000-small.JPG Install Option 2 - rings facing exhaust manifold http://www.lee-thompson.com/DSC01001-small.JPG (pictures will not permanently hosted)
JMortensen
Option 2. Didn't your gasket come with the thermostat housing part? They normally do and that tells you which way it should go. If you have it backwards the thermostat housing part hangs off the back of the head.
Guest izcc78
Both an MSA or a Nissan gasket for a 72 don't have the thermostat section on the gasket so it can install fine either way.
Guest izcc78
Option 2 - rings to the exhaust manifold and flat metal surface to the head is working well. Thanks!
