383 240z
Being in the auto service industry it never ceases to amaze me how STUPID and ignorant some members of the motoring public can be Keith

denny411
The sad thing is, there are plenty of shops that are almost as bad as that. I asked the local firestone shop how much they charge to turn rotors. The service manager told me 70.00+ tax for two when I found another shop to do all four for 32.00 tax included, I mentioned that I had asked at firestone. they were laughing before I had a chance to tell them the cost. They told me a typical brake job there runs between 750.00 and 850.

Guest Anonymous
Denny, its unfortunately true, my Sis-in-law had they're mercedes in at firestone for brakes. 800 bucks for the job, I told my brother she was nutz paying that much mercedes or no. (She just got a huge inheritance from her dad who died and they inherited the 380 SEL mercedes, nice car but damn expensive to have worked on, 3.8 ltr V8 all aluminum) I did brakes for a LONG time as a apprentice mechanic, most of the small shops in my area, call a mobile brake lathe place, guy comes in a van and turns them cheaply and arcs the shoes if its drums and your shop time labor isn't very much on brakes, even with expensive materials it ain't 7-800 bucks unless the guys a one handed half blind one legged mechanic thats drunk and has never done brakes before and took all day doing them. Just like in any business there are those that take short cuts and rip people off, unfortunate but you know how it is out there.
