Guest 73Turbo240z
Alright i need to start amassing parts for this build i'm doing, i've searched around for the parts, but can't seem to find the info i need... i'm going to be running a L28ET motor (1983) in my 73' 240z. I'm going to be running forged pistons from arizonazcar @ .040 over (http://www.arizonazcar.com/piston.html)... I need part numbers/places to get the following: ARP Head Studs for the P90a head to the f54 block... preferably ARP intake and exhaust studs as well, or somthing stainless that won't rust up. Total seal rings for the flat top pistons @ .040 over... Suggestions on headgasket? I head lots of mixed opinions between stock + 10ft lbs of torque, copper, o-ringing, etc... Also, since i have a thread up, does anyone know of bellhousing adapters to put TH350's or 700r4's behind the L blocks?
preith
Summit Racing had the head studs in stock, but that was a few years ago. The price was a few dollars cheaper than I saw anywhere else. The part# for all L-series 6's is the same. They have a good website to for ordering from. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but you will most likely have to find the thickness of the rings that came with the pistons, and the exact bore size, which is probably 3.425 inches. As for a supplier, I may get chastised for this, but Top End does sell them. They're not the most popular vendor, but I've had no problems. I used oem manifold studs, but have seen stainless out there. MSA may have them. I know zcarcreations.com sells an entire stainless engine kit. The head gasket will get you a variety of answers, but the best one to me, especially for a turbo, seems to be factory Nissan or Felpro with the thin wire copper o-ring setup. EDIT: just checked zcarcreations, and they do in fact offer an exhaust stud kit on ebay, with a "buy it now price" of $38.95 http://stores.ebay.com/Restoration-Stainless The only problem I can see is if you're using the FI manifold, you'll need the larger bolts for the top. zbloke
I got L6 main and head stud kits from Flatlander Racing they also list ARP rod bolt kits, good prices too Tim
Guest bigbadzcar99
i know Motorsport Auto has ARP bolt kits. I beleve they have main caps, connecting rod and head stud kits. Looking at around 400.00 for all. Im looking into the same thing right now. Victoria british carreys them also, but not on the web site. You will have to order a catalogue from them, its free though, so no big deal. As for a head gasket, im gonna use a MLS gasket (also at motorsport) so i dont have to worry too much about cranking up the boost. Hope this helps! z-ya
The arizona Z pistons come with Deves rings, why not just use them? I've used them with sucess in a couple of rebuilds. Pete

Pete[/quote'] with total seals claims of significant reduction in leakdown/blow by, i figured they were a wise upgrade for a motor that will be seeing substaintial psi over ambient...
