Guest blwnova
Does anybody know if the MSA V8 conversion allows for a mechanical fuel pump to fit? I did a search and couldn't find an answer.
Psykovertible
I dont know but I have a used holley red electric fuel pump i will sell cheap if u want it. a mechanical pump would be kinda cool for less clutter i guess. no wires no fuss
Georgia Flash
This is something that I have been wondering about myself. I may have to mock up my front cross member and MSA mounts again and find an old mechanical fuel pump to see if it fits. I do know that MSA sells an electric fuel pump for their conversion so there may be our answer. If no one responds with an answer I will try to do the mock up on my next off day, which will be Wednesday.
Georgia Flash
Here's a few pics I took the last time I had the front cross member mounted using the MSA stuff. From these pictures it looks like a mechanical fuel pump would be possible.
buZy
I have the msa mounts and thought about running a mechanical fuel pump. In short I would say no way. There is just not enough room when you consider pump installation and or replacement in the car. Plus clearance for fittings, lines and engine movement. Go electric. Yes more work and hastle but I really don't see any other way.
Guest tony78_280z
Just barely not enough room..... Unless you modify the mounts. If you can cut away some from both mounts and then reinfoce the mounts then you can run a mechanical pump. I did just this, but I need to get some pics. It seems that the elctric (even with a holley pressure regulator) wasn't pushing proper psi and proper rpms. After putting in the mechanical it starts easier, runs better, and throttles quicker. And the carb finally stays tuned properly. Now I got a spare Elecric Pump ($50.00) and Pressure regulator ($35.00) with oil pressure shut off switch(11.00). Going to EBAY unless someone else wants 'em.
Guest zfan
It can be done but IT IS VERT TIGHT!! I would go electric all the way. By the way I have done it both ways and electric to me is better. If done right. Mike

How?
Psykovertible
is this fitment using a stock style pump or the larger diameter holley style pumps
Guest blwnova
This would be a stock size pump, most likely a carter.
