strotter
Tired of fiddling with wet manifolds, finally dropped a (not too bad) wad on a StealthRam ( http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/Products/FMS/SR/fSR1.html ). After being profoundly impressed by the performance of Dan Juday's little woosy 305 (did I say that out loud? My bad...), I've been lusting after something with more injectors that can utilize a better ecu. Also a design less than 20 years old is good. Thunder Racing has a sale going on, so I figured, what the hey. So, the plan is to take delivery here in the next couple of weeks, pick up injectors and wiring gear the month after that, miscellaneous "stuff" the month after that, and begin the teardown/buildup early June. While I'm at it, I'll take care of some of those little things I've been putting off - hard steel fuel lines up & back, GM engine mounts, crossover on the duals, multiple tank pickups, detail some paint problems, apply tint to the windows, so on. Probably looking at, I dunno, two weeks on the outside. May be time pretty soon to look into an LSD of some kind, too.
A. G. Olphart
The project is still in the planning/ parts acquisition stage, and already "while I'm at it" has appeared. Must be a pretty severe case to start that early; two weeks could easily become two months, or, in a Pete's case scenario, two years.. grumpyvette
Ive been running a PORTED STEALTH RAM MPFI system on my 11:1 cpr 383 for several years now, the first thing you need to realize is that the intake is designed from a TUNNEL RAM INTAKE MAnifold and its most EFFECTIVE OPERATIONAL RANGE IS APROXIMATELY 4000RPM THRU ABOUT 6500RPM and as such your compression ratio and cam choice needs to match to get the best results, so far Ive tested about 14 cams and the two best so far are the CROWER 00471 and the CRANE 119661 BOTH OF WHICH REQUIRE a 2800-3000rpm stall and 3.73-4.11 rear gears to reach and opperate at peak efficiency in that same 4000rpm-6500rpm band next your injector size should match your intended HP goals http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm#WORKSHEET http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcmph.htm http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcrpm.htm http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcrgr.htm http://www.xse.com/leres/bin/gearratio?t...umference=80.90 http://www.dalesplace.com/htm/information/rpm_calculator.htm http://www.ondoperformance.com/calculators.html btw, you can make 475-500 plus hp and 500ft lbs of tq BEFORE hitting the NITROUS with that intake on the correct combo
Jolane
That is the same system I will be running. I bought the complete system with wideband O2. I hope to have it installed within 6 months (still have to finish fab, paint, then get the engine running. It looks and feels like a quality piece. Grumpyvette, Is that the same stealth ram intake you have been running, or are you using the older model? The new model has injectors that do not protrude into the runner, unlike the older version.
