Guest AbsoluteMoron
Will aftermarket parts for a standard 350 motor work with an LT-1 motor?
Tim240z
Generally no, but your question is too broad to be answered accurately.

Guest AbsoluteMoron
Well, I appreciate the fast response. I can now get started with my project.
80LS1T
You should have no issue using the pistons. I didnt get anything special when I rebuilt my LT1. Just plain old 350 pistons .030" over. But from looking at your list of parts I would say you pretty much have to buy everything for an LT1 to rebuild it. The only things on that last that are a for sure maybe are the pistons and rods. You can probably use the rocker arms but you might need different valve covers if thay are too big. 12:1 is pretty high compression even for an LT1. Is the 12:1 for a 58cc head or was that 12:1 figured for the older engine? Most older heads have bigger chambers, thats why I ask because if that was figured with say a 64cc chamber then your compression will deffinently be too high with 58cc chambers. Unless this is a drag car and your going to use a mixture of race gas? Guy EDIT.... Are you talking about an LT1(92'-97') or an LT-1(not sure on the years but Im thinking 70's)? Guest AbsoluteMoron
Well to answer your questions so that you can answer mine here goes. The motor I would like to use the pistons and rods in is a lt-1 OUT OF A 95 Z28 camaro. I can always sell that motor setup and just buy lower comp pistons for the lt-1 since I now know you can use regular 350 pistons and rods .....right? 80LS1T
I would just sell everything you got for the old motor and then plan out the new LT1(not LT-1). You should be able to sell all of that pretty easy as a whole set up rather than piece by piece. If you want to keep the rods then you would just have to make sure that the rods will fit on the LT1 crank shaft unless you are going to an aftermarket crank? It would be kind of pointless to go with forged rods and pistons if you arent going to go with a steel crank, atleast in my opinion.
