Guest Battle Pope
***56k warning*** I got a motor for my hybrid project! It's a Ford 460 and a C6 auto trans. Not sure what it came out of, but the guy has a written guarantee that it will run. It's pretty dirty, and some of those worthless accessories need to be removed. I won't know if it's a better code till it's clean though. If anyone knows what to look for as far as castings go, please chime in! Thanks Longblock http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/WavelengthDesigns/DSCN0482.jpg C6 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/WavelengthDesigns/DSCN0483.jpg Emissions label on the valve cover (460CID, baby yeah!) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/WavelengthDesigns/DSCN0485.jpg Motor next to a 7MGE out of a Mk3 Supra http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/WavelengthDesigns/DSCN0484.jpg

BrandonsZ
He said it ran, will run, but did he mention when it ran last? Looks like it was sitting out for a while, it probably has leaves and water in the intake manifold.

Fortunately the engine has been stored in a climate-controlled building, so there's no junk in the manifold. Should be able to just do a gasket replacement, put fluids in it and it should fire. I plan on replacing the intake manifold and carburetor anyway so I should be fine.
2126
You say it was stored in a climate controlled building! From the looks of the 460's external condition, it was the WRONG climate and after the fact that it sat out in the weather for 15 years before being placed in the climate controlled building! I'd say if you are getting both for under $100.00....go for it. Otherwise I think you will be buying someones old problems. Don't let your emossion regulate your purchase. These old 460's with carbs typically get 12 mpg at best, and weigh a ton. Like they say....live and learn! Good luck!
Guest Battle Pope
Yeah, I got a really good deal on it. If there are any problems with it I can exchange it no questions asked.
