CruxGNZ
I have talked to this guy several times, but he still will not open up the cover and tell me what numbers are stamped on the ring gear. He says a guy in his Z club checked it and he also checked it and it's indeed a 3.36 ratio. Since he won't tell me or show me (asked for a picture too) what I need, maybe somebody else would like to take a chance. His reserve is set at $175. Here's the auction: click here !M! RB26powered74zcar
Can you imagine what the insides may look like if that Z it came out of was submerged up to the diff, as it appears to have been?? I sent him a polite email explaining how important it is to know for sure what the ratio is, when you say you have a 3:36. I asked him to open it and look for himself at the numbers on the ring gear. If he is relying on spinning the pinon, and counting the turns, it can fool the not so experinced into believing a 3:54 is a 3:36.... Ya know what I'm talkin bout? preith
Hey guys, I actually directed Mat towards this auction. Before Mat corresponded with him, I sent the guy an ebay question, here's the email cut and pasted: "The 3.36 r200's are very rare. What year/model did it come out of?" listen, i am going to honest i have had these rear for years. i know it fits all z's bolt on no parts needed. i have seen them put 240's 280's. Talk about not answering the question!
RB26powered74zcar
I sent him this >> "Hello, it is very unlikely that is a 3:36 ratio because of very few ever being used in the US, but if you will confirm the stamped numbers on the ring gear, I will buy this diff from you, or bid until I win it. Other than looking with your own eyes, I would not be advertizing that as a 3:36, just by spining the shafts and counting the turns. The 3:54 is to close to a 3:36 to tell that way. You really need to remove the rear cover and read the numbers, that will end all speculation, as I'm sure your getting many emails from doubters on the ratio. If it is indeed a 3:54, they are a dime a dozen, so you might just make a bad deal selling that as a 3:36 w/o knowing for sure. I'm not trying to disrespect you here, just trying to save everyone possible grief... thank you" Here is his reply I just received: "coming at youon th ring gear is 39 teeth 3.90 :1 i will have to pull the diff i pulled cover off the diff pin =10 ring = 39 thanks"

Cjarloz
that looks small is that even a r200 or r180 cause then the 3.36 is beleiveable
CruxGNZ
Phil, Thanks again for the heads up! That guys answers were chopped english. I just couldn't get the right answer out of him. He even replied to me once, thinking I was asking about a scanner he was selling... this is after a few e-mails have been exchanged between us about the differential. I just didn't want to take a $250 (minimum) chance on this guy, so I posted about it. I also got an e-mail this evening from the guy saying how many teeth were on the ring and pinion. And that was it, a very short answer. Not a way to do business. At least he pulled the auction. !M!
