Wide260z
I have an '82 280zxt doner car. I was wondering if it would be possible to just swap over the ignition system, computer and intake over onto my 240 block? The 240 block is running webbers and is already cammed. It also has forged pistons and rods. I've been told with the turbo setup on that motor will make way more hp that the webbers could dream of. I'm just worried about the motor grenading in the car. I do have the block, but the car sat for 11 years and i'm not sure about all of that. I am going to rebuild it right and eventually put that block in the car. I was just wanting to hear some opinions about the 240 motor being boosted
PUSHER
Sounds like the l24 you have could have a pretty high compression which could have some trouble with the boost if not tuned properly.
Dnaught14
do a search, people have done it. You can make the swap onto the current setup you already have. But, you would have to upgrade your fuel pump, get the new efi, turbo headers, new intake, on higher compression you'd need an intercooler, above all that if you have more than 9:1 compression than you wont be able to run more than 7psi. And, even if you had an amazing tune it would be difficult to achieve mroe than 250rwhp, which is fun, but if your gonna spend the money to get it there with that set up, buy a f54 p90 and put the same into it and you'll be able to go much further. Also the f54 p90 combination use the some engine mounts. Id jsut do the whole engine swap, especially if your going to rebuild later on, just buy a turbo block and rebuild that. hope that helps.
