Guest 73Turbo240z
Alrighty, talked w/ my machine shop today, i can pick up the engine tommorow, so i'm making this thread which i will be updating routinely during the installation process, i'm going to list up the mods the car has coming in in all aspects of the build now, and take ideas/advice/opinions from ya'll as i go along so i can produce a better vehicle through the boards collective experience. I'm putting this thread in the L6 forum cause it will be the L28ET motor, so everything centers around extracting the most from that application, the car will be a weekend fun car, mostly drag/rolling pulls, a little bit of twistie action now and again. Other then that, i look forward to fielding questions and hearing ya'lls opinions, hope to see some good responses!
Guest 73Turbo240z
priority things i'd like to know options on currently are: 1. motor mount strengthening, i know i can box the mounts to a certain degree, i don't want 100% solid mounts, so is there a polyurathane offering out there i'm not aware of? gotta have somthing sturdy to help put the power to the back. 2. cylinder head options, good cams for a turbo application, and the subsiquently springs, retainers, etc... gotta have a complete longblock before it can go in, cause i'm building the 1st half of my MSnS harness while the engine is on the stand. 3. complete list of all sensors needed for a MSnS operated L28ET, i've read through the MSnS forum, but i've got a real bad problem with reading things and understanding it fully, i'm more of a visual learner i suppose, either way everytime i try to read it, i start confusing myself. And i can't build a good fitting harness till i know where all the sensors are/need to be.
Guest ON3GO
MSA sells a engine mount that is cheaper then the Nissan ones and is stiffer. Chris here in houston has them in his Z and told me about them. His Z makes more power then mine and yours will ever will lol and he said there great. im sure everybody has different voices on this but im gonna go with a Webb cam when i do one in the Blue Z, not sure what trim or specs on it but something streetable that will help for my quest for 350rwhp out of this car.. and you crazy bastard im trying to get ahold of ya on AOL, i got that gas tank for you and i got some questions for ya.. also whens the next party? mike
evildky
sensors needed for MSnS: a real TPS (the z used a throttle switch you'll need one thats variable like the 240sx unit) the stock CHTS a gm IAT (perferably the one with the little diade thingy in the cage) a 2 bar map sensor (this can be onboard or remote) a crank angle sensor or dist without mech/vac advance an O2 sensor (they suggest heated)

MSnS not care about knock? i didn't see a knock sensor listed in there...

Guest 73Turbo240z
updated the list, bunch of suspension stuff, starting on assembling the front cover + head onto the shortblock tonight, the 83' FSM doesn't have a terribly great diagram of how everything goes together. So if there is a good "how to" with photos and whatnot on assembling the front cover, i'd appriciate a link, as i've said in other posts, i'm use to nothing but dry belts, so assembling a wet chain is a completely new thing to me, and given the fact that if i screw up the valves nail those brand new forged pistons, i'd just as soon not do that! lol
evildky
i have the TPS and both ends of the connector from a 240sx throttle bodie' date=' so thats 1 down... gm iat... i'll search here for a p/n i guess, just get a new one... 2 bar map sensor, not sure where to scavenge that from... crank angle, it was my understanding from the other thread that my dizzle has that crank angle sensor, right? 02, regular or wideband? i planned on running a wideband anyway, but can i run solely off that, or do i need a narrowband as well for MS itself... new CHTS should be easy to get... MSnS not care about knock? i didn't see a knock sensor listed in there...[/quote']MSD makes a new 2 bar that uses weatherpackplugs for about $30-40? but most people just use the on die map if your running and 82-83 dist then yeah your CAS is covered, you just gotta wire it up as for the wideband, I am running the stocker for now I'd think the MS will work with wideband but you might wanna hit hybrid's megasquirt forrum for more info as for the knocksensor thats still being worked out, the new MS2 has provisions for a knock sensor but what kind of signal and if our unit is compatible I have no idea, again you'll want to keep an eye in the hybrid MS forum as well as msefi.com, I am running the older MSnS and have no knock sensor
