  1. I did configure MT before hand. Double checked my configuration and it is set for narrowband o2. Wiring checks out ok and relay board seems to be clean around both the o2 connections. MS ECU works great on the stim board. Out of curiosity what do narrowband o2 sensors normally read before engine is started and does anyone know what value MT shows for o2 reading when no sensor is hooked up?
  2. Thanks for the reply! DutyCycle2 just a bug. That's good to know. Forgot to mention that o2 readings are fine with the stim. I did try another sensor with the same results. I'm thinking i have a bad 02 wire(shielded) or else a crossed/bad connection in my harness. I will check these out although i did try to make all my connections as clean as possible. Each wire in the harness was soldered 1 by 1 to the db37 pins then covered right to the plug with shrink tube. Relay board seems to appear very clean with clean solder joints. Shouldn't be to hard to figure out I hope.
  3. Well I finally got to the point of MS being installed and fired up last weekend on metro's ve and spark tables. Runs not to badly but is definately running rich all around. Still has a bit of a miss at idle and lower rpm's after gapping the plugs up to .045. The 02 gauge in MS is pegged at 28 wether or not the sensor is plugged in. While in ve tuner and looking at the gauges, at idle duty cycle1 seems ok i think but duty cycle2 reads 2330000% but pw2 matches pw1. runs ok alternating 2 squirts but will not run on simultanious My setup is L28et stock injectors, tb, clt, dizzy, o2 sensor and turbo gm iat in j pipe and all emission and accessories removed. MS 2.2 board with relay board firing msd 6a 029y4
  4. vacuum leak and/or efi connections need cleaning.
  5. It does make more sense to do springs and struts at the same time so only doing it once. If you can't do both i would start with the struts. Perhaps a bushing kit might be a good place to start as that should fit your budget.
  6. Doh! stupid tubing i had has ridges on the inside keeping it from sealing. My bad, been swimming in to much Z stuff lately.
  7. It does work doing as you say however air passes through the sensor. I just thought they were a sealed unit.
  8. Just doing the final stuff before doing my ms install and noticed my map sensor doesnt seem to be a sealed unit. :ie doesnt hold vaccuum or pressure. Does seem to look ok on MT. Is my map sensor working right?
  9. Thx for the reply Matt. I've been reading alot and taking notes. I think I am getting the basics down. I was thinking I'd use led17 as my spark output and retaining the FIdle relay (MS relay board) to use zxt air bypass valve. I believe this should work for me. Any reason why not? Engine is going in over the next day or two and then wire up MS.
  10. So I have now got megatune 2.25 working with the firmware installed on my ms1 2.2pcb. as well as the usb-serial adapter. yay going in the right direction. so much more info available now than when i tarted and is overwhelming at first. so my ms seems to be workin good with the stim board anyways. Seems i have lost my spark on the fast idle circuit as it is just lit solid until my clt is turned up. must be an output setting i guess. so more reading and set-up and maybe installation next week if all goes well. Anyone running 029y4 got any tips? I'm just going to start with a stock l28et.
  11. Well not completely starting over more continuing on. started buildn my ms around the time moby did his original write up but didnt quite finish. Going to get it fitted in the case today and it'll be together, also will pick up a serial-usb adapter as well. So It's a MS1 2.2pcb Back when i first got it together a had setup msns and tried to change the cht sensor #'s. spark was successful but dont remember about the sensor. Lost all the old tuning programs so would the MS1-extra029y4 firmware and tuner be what i want now. Cant seem to find any older tuner
  12. Thx so much for posting those pics. My car is once again a full hard top. Just a couple spots left to grind but all welded in now. Just can't believe I didnt see doin it this way sooner or I would have done it long ago. Anyways thx again for sharing and someone make this a sticky it could potentially save a Z somewhere especially with how often this topic comes up.
  13. Changed out my tank yesterday and with less than a quarter tank i had to prime the fuel pump to get it running again.
  14. Got a nice clean one today but thx. Appreciate the offer!
  15. I am going that way soon enough just don't know exactly when. Appreciate the offer but picked one up locally to keep this project moving forward. Again thx for your generosity and being a part of what makes the Z community so awesome.
  16. 83zxt with nasty tank and pick-up assembly. do all zx tanks interchange from 80-83???
  17. Zeddfindings makes a decent replacement pan. http://www.datsunzparts.ca/start.htm I used one of his pans some time ago and it worked out great. looks awesome. Was the very best thing around when i did my floor pan. Probably still is. He makes a zx pan to.
  18. I've always found most problems from these swaps are caused by dirty connections through the eccu wiring harness. that would be #1 and #2 cause is usually vacuum leaks. I see you're from vancouver. if u wanted to come see a very basic install you'd be more than welcome except i leave for a couple weeks monday for work. have a good running example here.
  19. u have a mustache bar for an r200 in your list. if u have to u can use the one from the r180. just have to turn it around and oval out the hiles for the r200. the r180 bar is a little thinner but havent seen anyone have any issues
  20. thanks for the replies. i've seen the negative feedback in my searches and dont think i'd deal with them. Just tryin to find something this side of the border as i'm in b.c. canada. just gets expensive when you combine exchange rate, shipping, taxes etc... the price of shipping of such a large item from reputable places such as reaction research is a fair amount perhaps if i could find someone closer than arizona or cali:) washington maybe?? i have a steel hood i can fix and use for now but would like to find a fibreglass one. just keep my eyes open for a used one i guess
  21. has anyone tried the fibreglass hoods from showcars > http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/index.html how r they for fit?
  22. 280 strut tubes are larger in diameter and height.
  23. thats awesome! just can't wait to get mine. it's ordered but waiting is killer especially with the progress you're making here. did you use the stock 83 trigger wheel? (just remember some mention of it in an earlier post) good luck with the rest of it and looking forward to hearing more updates.
  24. just viewing its all good now???
