J Taylor
Just wondering how far I can somewhat-safely rev this motor. I have the rev limiter at 7500 and it pulls hard all the way up to it at 8psi. The motor really comes alive from about 6500 on up. The whole exhaust note changes and it just really starts pulling. Feels like it would keep on pulling hard well past 7500 but I'm real leary of it being a completely stock long block. Anyone know how dangerous it would be to rev it to 8 or so? Guest JAMIE T
I think 7500 is the OE rev limit on the RB26. I would guess the '25 would be slightly less. I think 8K is high.
Jsquared
IIRC, 7,000rpm is redline on RB20 (maybe 25 as well) and 8,000rpm is redline on the RB26. I have yet to see a STOCK (no daughterboard) Nissan ECU with a higher revlimit than redline, but then again I'm used to the 4bangers
cheftrd
It won't come apart at 8K, however, if you shift the engine up there, quarter times will be slower. I know it feels like it's still pulling, but the power has dropped off. The 501hp 25 I mentioned in the other thread made peak power at about 7300 with 272's.
