Guest 280kraZ
so i am in the process of replacing the bushings on my 83 280zx n/a 2+2 and when i pulled the axle off the wheel hub (so that i could remove the rear suspension arm) i accidently knocked the dust cap off of my cv and it leaked grease everywhere and the spring shot out right into a pile of dirt. doh! do you guys think i will have to take the axle off to get everything clean? The axle is still connected to the differential at this point. So it would make thinkgs alot easier if i didnt have to take the whole axle apart. Also what kind of grease should I use once i get it clean?
260DET
You could remove any of the grease from the CV joint that has dirt in it, clean the bits that fell on the ground, add more grease and then reassemble. In principle different greases should not be mixed but in practice with what you've got............... Go to the trouble to get proper CV joint grease though.
