DOHC on L6?

Has anyone tryed to fit a RB head to an L6 (24,26,28)? I know in japan that the z432and z432r versions had the S20 engine (DOHC engine that RBs were derived from), did the S20 engine use the same block as the SOHC? I recall that in like the early 80's there was a company that made race application DOHC heads for the L6 engine, has anyone happen to stumble apon one of these rear finds.

I know some one on this forum is making one from 1 1/2 240sx (KA or SR heads, Idon't recall which) but I think thats way to much fabbing to be practical for me.

he's making one from two KA24DE heads. I don't know about the R432 or the S30 (yet :D, sounds like I need to look up some stuff), but OS Giken did make a DOHC head for the L-series sixes and for the four-bangers as well... although I would imagine that getting your hands on one of those would be akin to me getting a date with Angelina Jolie

  • 2 weeks later...

I laid my Tomei metal RB head gasket ontop of a F54 block I have, and its a NO GO..... way to many things don't line up for it to work.

Now I can confirm, that the head bolt pattern / bores are in the same location on both blocks, making it abit easier to find a tourqe plate for honing....

so is it just oil and coolant chambers that dont match?

becasue there are other types of rb that have very different heads (rb30e, rb20e etc)
