Guest error*
I am wanting to run Megasquirt on a SR20DET. Seeing how this is a Nissan forum. I was hoping that someone had already gone through this. Anyways, I am actually wondering on the ignition. Seeing how they are all COP (Coil on plug) I know that the trigger wheel in the Cam Sensor can be decoded, using a pull up resistor (because it is optical). But I am wondering about the stock ignitor, does anyone know if megasquirt can drive it? Is it any similar to a HEI unit? Jacob
Guest 81na ZX
Check on msefi.com . Someone should know the answer, or atleast get you started in the right direction.
mario_82_ZXT
I think you end up switching to EDIS or a similar distributorless ignition. You can also keep the stock ecu and have that control timing. Mario
Tony D
Actually, with the slotted cam timing sensor, I don't see what the problem would be going to MS-n-EDIS. Failing that, converting any of a number of Distributors to be driven off the cam angle sensor would be straightforward and then allow convetnional single coil usage with conventional plug wires. Didn't some earlier Non-US versions of the SR come with a distributor? That would also be an option.
Jsquared
All RWD SRs are non-US The non-turbo SR20s all used distributors with wires, only the turbo models were coil-on-plug.
