Guest PROJECTRB240SX
Does anyone know if any companies manufacture polyurethane or solid aluminum motor and tranmission mounts for a 240z? I plan on going to a solid diff mount set but I'd like to stiffen up the engine and trans isolators also to keep the difference in movement minimal. Guest ON3GO
well even though i have all solid mounts on my green Z, i must say its very very shakey in the car. i felt other Z guys who had solid mounts and it wasnt fun riding in it if you dont like that sort of thing, im happy i do. im not sure if anybody sells solid engine mounts, but MSA sells there own motor mounts and there alot stiffer then the reg nissan ones. not much help sorry. mike
Guest PROJECTRB240SX
No, thats actually really helpful.... I don't mind the vibrations I just don't like the trans clunking during shifts or the wide engine rocking on a turbocharged SR20DET. Eventually I want to get a bigger turbo and it will sit dangerously close to the Steering shaft, so to prevent contact I need either stiffer mounts or solid mounts. randy 77zt
put a torque strap on driver's side-make it out of nylon webbing.factory z mounts arent that bad-they are pretty solid compared to late model car mounts.its better to build a more refined car.but since i used to work as a new car dealer technician i expect my car to operate like a new car. Why not just do a better diff mount than the stock one? There have been several good ideas for improving the stock mount, then you wouldn't need to solidly mount the rest of the drivetrain and you wouldn't have to worry about the stupid strap breaking. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=2501&size=big&cat=1&page=1 http://63.230.175.50:8884/Files/Datsun/LSD-Brace/Diff-Mount.htm http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=95128 EDIT--The last one changes the pinion angle for V8 swaps, so I don't think you'd want to use that one as is, might have to modify for the correct pinion angle.
