ZHeadV8
Hi Guys, I am struggling to get an engine and box for my 240 project because we have relatively few of them here in the UK and the expertise is thin on the ground. Frankly and dangerously I do not know exactly what to buy. Can anyone point me at a serious engineer who can supply me a ready built engine / box package with all the ancilliaries to just bolt in ? Preferably LS2 / LS6 with T56 Needs to be a reputable decent company please

Are you referring to an automobile wrecking yard or auto dismantler? If you want a good running used engine and tranny, I would contact http://www.gmsports.com/ and buy one from them. If you want new parts, then the US is filled up with many many GM dealers... Davy
ZHeadV8
Thanks DavyZ, The issue is not one of actually BUYING an engine because places like Scoggin Dickey will sell me everything I want (would prefer to buy new unless a VERY good VERY low mileage setup came up for sale). The difficulty is knowing WHAT to buy, let me explain : I know I want an LS6 preferably, I know I want a T56 preferably but it is all the ancilliaries that cause the grief. There is not a lot of Chevy V8 expertise in the UK and even less where HybridZ stuff is concerned, no one can give me a shopping list or tell me what will and won't fit (bear in mind the car is right hand drive) What I would like to end up with is either a total shopping list of engine, box, pumps, pulleys, the lot, every last detail OR have someone supply me with a complete and built engine / box setup to fit the 240 on John's Cars mounts. I have read and re read the JTR book but it does not cover the new all aluminium engines. The guys on here helped me decide on engine / box combination but now I am approaching trial fit stage and need to actually get the stuff. My only other option is to get an LS6 / T56 combo and throw away everything that doesn't fit then ask what WILL fit and source it. Would be easier and neater to buy the right stuff in the first place.
BlackBeaut
Hi mate, Have you tried Mike at Boost Performance in Nottingham? http://www.chevroletls1.com/ http://www.chevroletls1.com/chevrolet_ls1_6_info.html http://www.chevroletls1.com/ls16_custom_eng_parts.html http://www.chevroletls1.com/ls1prices_offer.html http://www.chevroletls1.com/trans_forsale.html Also goes by the name of 'Boosted LS1' on pistonheads. ZROSSA
I think the only big difference we have with rigt hand drive is that there is even less header clearence on the right side. We have the starter motor, oil filter, cross member and the steering shaft to deal with. Leaves us room for very tight block huggers or a rather expensive custom set of headers. This is for a old SBC in a 76 2+2, But the ls1 isnt any smaller. Douglas
ZHeadV8
Black Beauty - Mike is a SERIOUSLY well clued up V8 chevy engineer. Been talking to him for a while but he is mega expensive. Have now agreed that he will custom build me an engine and do all of the fitment work as well. Many Thanks to everyone who replied, I am now well sorted - custom engine, 7litres, LS7 components with liners so in case of problem you pull the liner and install a new one with no damage to the block. T56 gearbox custom built to take the power - he is even lending me an engine and box to do the trial fit while he builds the proper one. It will be fully balanced and blueprinted so should be a good one! The kind of service we do not normally see in the UK and get pig sick jealous about when we see it in the States when we are on holiday
