george.bryant
My L20ET motor is having some issues with overheating and i'm done some damage. Last night after driving for 80km everything was fine, then all of a sudden the temperature shot up just under hot. I was home so i turned the car off and i heard boiling and all this weird hissing noise. I popped bonnet, and there was steam coming out between the head and block on cyl number six (on side of engine that the turbo isnt on...). I figured there wasn't much i could do. I've located a well running L28E out of a 280z (the guy is wrecking the whole thing ). I'm either going to fix the L20ET or get the L28E for the mean time until I have enough money to get a FJ, RB or VH. Is it possible to use the L20ET turbo gear on the L28E? What do you guys recommendi do?. I can't afford much at the moment. I'm still driving my car because it doesnt even seem to be getting that hot as im staying right off the boost at the moment...I put some F2 over where the steam was pissing out. stagefumer11
The l20et and the l28et e.g a build up turbo l28e. Are identical to each other. Just bolt on the l20et exhasut manifold and intake manifold and use the l20et ecu. It will run fine. Just dont run anymore than 5-6 psi untill you have larger injectors. Mounts are the same. Same with the bellhousings

FEnatic
When you swap over, use the L28E cam in the turbo setup. It has better specs compared to the L20ET cam. We would swap these out in our old Skylines when I was in Japan.
Guest bigbadzcar99
i am in the process of the L28ET swap now, using a P90 head with the stock L28 block. I have never herd of using the stock non turbo cam in the turbo set up. I know the cam profile numbers are close, but how will it run with the stock cam, and how much will it flow to the turbo? FEnatic
He is actually replacing on L20ET motor. These had cams with smaller specs than the L28E motor. On our L20Et motors we would swap in the L28E cam. I am not sure how much different the L28ET is compared to the L28E. Actuaaly found this on another site. http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/cam/index.htm
FEnatic
that is ******* awesome! 2.8 here i come. You have any pics of the old Skyline? I used to run an 81 turbo GT-ES, and an 85 2 door. I loved the looks of the 2 doors Skylines. My favorite years for them 81-85!
