hat1324
I know the tranny for a RB26 is AWD, and the case is apart of it. Ive been told I can cut the case(off?) and weld the hole.. anyone have more info on this? I know the RB25 trans will work just fine, but isnt it less strong? Guest JAMIE T
It's my understanding that the internals are the same. So, they should be of equal strength. The real high HP cars in JP use an HKS, OS Giken, or Hollinger AWD tranny. I'm talking about 1000 hp cars, etc... The '25 trans should be fine for 600 hp though. hat1324
the 6th gear would be nice though..
RB26powered74zcar
the 6th gear would be nice though.. The 6th gear disn't come along until the R34 model. Its a compleatly different trans than the 5 spd.
rb26zed
j.soileau is right, r32 and r33 gtr's are 5 speed only. 6 speed is only on the r34.

rb26zed
Another option is to use a Supra turbo 5speed from the '93 supra turbo with a custom bellhousing. supra 5 speed $400au custom bellhousing $800au The supra isnt quite as strong as the 25 but if you break either one the supra will be cheaper to replace. 25 5 speed $1500-2500au. The supra gearbox is regularly used on 400hp+ cars here without a problem. rodshop.com.au and malwoodautomotive.com.au both have these kits in stock.
