Guest Alpha 1
I have a 1977 280Z mostly stock, mild cam, have header, pallnet fuel rail and TB kit. the question is the hose from the air regulator does not fit the new TB. Do I need the air regulator? what if I removed it? It sure cleans up the intake manifold with it gone.
TomoHawk
You don't absolutely need it. It's there just to raise the idle for a few minutes until the engine warms up. If you remove it, just simulate the function by keeping your foot on the gas pedal slightly for a minute or two.
TomoHawk
Stomping on the gas pedal isn't how I would put it. More like a slight press. You could also raise the idle speed on the TB, but then it would run fast all the time. It's easy to test both on and off the car, and easier to change. Guest crackerasscracker
if you lived in florida you don't need that or the cold start injector and it cleans up the engine very nicely
stagefumer11
I have none, removed, Same with throttle body heater, and throttle damper. Hard to start but after 10 mins its fine
VinhZXT
Why would you have to keep your foot on the pedal? It will run without it. Without it it will take longer for the engine to warm up and it will run rich during that period. On the N/A you don't have the running rich problem it you remove the CSI. TomoHawk
the Cold Start Injector only affects (richens) for the first 8-12 seconds after you turn the engine over ( and assuming it starts). After the 8-12 second time (controlled by the Thermotime switch), the should close and the fuel mix should be normal). So the Cold Start Injector doesn't need to be removed.
