Widest 15/16's Tires Avalible at 25" tall? For lowered ZG project

I've got 195/50/15's that are about 24" in diamater and want to get the widest wheels possible. I am planning to install ZG's as part of her resurection and really want that slammed fat as$ tire look. I know I could go with spacers but I've always thought that it's weak to do that.

My 240 sits at 5" from the ground in the rear, measuring from the front of the wheel opening not taking in to account the lip of sheet metal that hangs down. In the front it's 4". Measuring from the rear of the wheel opening and not taking in to account the sheet metal lip.

My stuts don't apper to be sectioned since my springs in the rear measure 10". Although I don't have a bump steer problem I don't want to lower my car anymore because of taller wheels.

The widest 15's I can find are 245/50 they come in around 24.5" (my own math not the man.). Widest 16's 275/45 at about 25.7" (my math) making them too tall.

Got any pics of your rides with ZG's lowered as much as possible?

Go to a 17" wheel with a 255/40/17. They are 25" tall. The 245/50/15's (24.64) are not very good tires, they are not very sticky and will howl when they break loose (alerts every cop around). If you go to a 245/45/16 (24.7) then you can get into some good rubber compounds. The 17" wheels will give you the most choice for compounds and tire sizes. The only 275/45/16's that I know of are race compound tires which would not be very good for the street. The first rain or cold day you might not like to drive the car with them and they will be gone in 1K miles or less depending on how you drive. IMO 245/45/16 are the way to go, they are very close to 25" tall and cost much less than the 17" tires (wheels are cheaper too) and they weigh less too. But if you have to have a wide 25" tall tire then the 255/40/17 is about your only choice.

It will cost a bit cash $$$ Across the pond Michelin is selling a 15 inch tire called the TB5 and TB15 ( I think TB5 is for road tarmac warmer conditions?) The tire sizes are as close as you can get to nostalgic wide 15 inch tires like Pirelli P7, Yokohama AVS sport and Avon. Do a search on the web- I have e-mailed Longstyres in the UK and they have a website with a pound to dollar conversion and size conversion like 295/40-15 as well as what the shipping costs to the US will be.

295/40/15!! That's what I'm looking for. Do you know if they are a race compond only? I'll look for them right away.

As far as the 245/45/16's, yeah I was talking about Hoosier's S03's. I can manage to drive on sunny days. My 240 is loud as hell so I don't think the tires screacthing are gonna make a difference.

In race compound (wets) Goodyear eagle, Pirelli you can find 15 inch tires in wide tires (not good for everyday street driving, plus illegal) good for show. The Michelins are nice size tire but expensive, and with 15 inch rims your brake selection is limited. If you go to 17 inch tire, prices and choices are un-limited, finding rims /wheels is the hard part. But, I tell you those Michelins on a set of Watanabe Type R's 15 x12 and 15 x 8 would be nice:)

I'm thinking about the 245/45/16's but then the price of the Rewinds I want to run would go way up. No they don't make Rewinds that wide anyway. plan was to have them widened. It's about $150 a wheel.

I'm not gonna give up yet on some wide 15's

Why not go with some 16 in. Watanabe rims? They're sold in 0 offset ( deep 2 step lip is sweet ) I sold a set of 16x8.5 originally off my 240sx. They're kinda expensive, but really sweet and old school. I think they go upto 12in. width.
