  1. I never had the opportunity to purchase parts from him for my Zeto... But I would like to send my condolences to his family, friends, and supporters...
  2. in regards to the last posted ignition arrangement with the eps and gm coils... is there a write up here that i could follow?
  3. Ok, so I've recently acquired my dream car since the 7th grade... A 72' S30 and would like to place in my KA24DE-T. I've been considering the substitution of my current KA/SR trans. for the stouter Z32 trans. I already have a Z32 R200 diff as well and would like to be able to utilize both components in my motor/trans swap... My most important question i believe would be, what size of driveshaft would be required? Has anyone one else performed this swap i.e. Z32 trans and diff swap? I've been searching around for sometime now to no avail and so I've decided to simply post up and ask for help... Thank you in advance, for any and all the help you can give me. Here's a picture of a built KA with Z32 trans attached...
  4. Its a g nose, alot of difernt companies make these conversions still.
  5. What about a wide set for the front as well?
  6. A company in Japan called Garage Nakayama or something like that, built an AWD S30 for drag competitions in Japan, last year. Using the RB26 motor and drivetrain with custom mounts for the motor, trans, suspension, and a custom rear subframe. It was in an issueof Option Magazine that I was reading.
  7. Are'nt the belts supposed to be bolted down? Something like the knots create weak points in the harness, heightening the chance of you rocketing out through your windshield? Or at least submarining into your footwells to closely inspect your pedals while you're crahing into something. Could be wrong...
  8. Thank you everyone for your help. I've finally decided to go with RS Watanabe Japan. I'm thinking of 16x9 -13 front and 16x9.5/10 -19 rear. I'll have to make sure first. I found a popular rim company in Japan that will do custom size and offset, but it costs a fortune of course Well thank you again everyone. Aloha.
  9. I've come to the conclusion that 16in. possibly 17in. will be the way to go. In saying that. Can I use a 16x8 +15 offset for the front with ZG flares and a 16x9 +0 offset for the rear? If so, I'll be ordering some rims before I even fly back to Japan! Thank you for your answers in advance, Aloha.
  10. Hmmm. Cobra rims, you say. I'll take a peak. Thank you for all the replies, everyone, especially to you, JohnC. You are very knowledgable and I thank you for sharing that knowledge with me and everyone reading this post, thank you again. Aloha.
  11. Wow! That was easy. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
  12. Is anyone using any of the above mentioned diffs' from any of these cars? Was there any serious mods needed? I am a newbie in regards to the Z, but am not afraid to DIY, depending on difficulty. Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic, welder, of engineer, but I don't mind getting dirty. LOL Thank you for any information recieved, Aloha.
  13. Bummer... I'm really trying to go 17in. possibly 18in. in the rear. It seems very hard to find lightweight rims in even +0 offset. Can anyone reccomend some rim chioces that can achieve my goal? Looking to maximize both front and rear wheel width, using ZG flares and coilover suspension. Using 17in. wheels. Thank you everyone that has responded so far. The sharing of knowledge has been most appreciated.
  14. Hmmm. What if I use ZG fender flares with complete coilover suspension to fit a 10.5 in. wide rim with +15 offset, what about +12? I'm willing to change to a 9.5 in. wide rear rim. Will a +12 offset with the above mentioned mods allow for this? Thank you everyone for responding. The rims I'm looking at are not available in America, so no test fitting I'm flying back to Japan in January and would like to purchase these rims with confidence they will fit.
  15. Wow! That's alot of sources I need to check. Thank you everyone for your input. The reason why I put on every brace I could find was due to the extreme shifting of the chassis from high speed drifting i.e. in excess of 160kmh. My last 240 fastback actually had 3 tears in the firewall, and my chassis was tweaked in 5 directions front to back. I never crashed it and later sold it to a kid who absolutly destroyed. What a sad fate for that car. In my only 5 years of drifting I managed to warp the frame of a car origially owned by a librarian in 8 months. I don't want it to happen to an over 30 year old car. Well. Thanks again everyone for the links. I've got some searcing to do.
  16. I own a 1990 240sx. On it I have every single brace sold in Japan. I wanted the car to be as stiff as possible without a rollcage for drifting. I'm getting out of the drifting thing since some drunk driver smashed my car while it was parked out on the street. My question being, is there anyone that sells front or rear ladder bars, floor support bars, under front fender bars, rear cross member bars, B-pillar support bars, trunk support bars or strut tower to firewall braces for a 1970-1973 240Z? The best I have found imo so far are triangulated front and rear upper strut braces from Cusco Japan. Sorry for my newbie questions. Thank you in advance for any information you may provide.
  17. Why not go with some 16 in. Watanabe rims? They're sold in 0 offset ( deep 2 step lip is sweet ) I sold a set of 16x8.5 originally off my 240sx. They're kinda expensive, but really sweet and old school. I think they go upto 12in. width.
  18. WOW! That was scary! Reminds me of a party I went to... LOL!
  19. I think it should also be mentioned that there are differnt prices for SRs due to the Red or Black Top S13 motors, the Black Top S14 motor with variable valve timing, the Spec S S15 motor and the top of the line Spec R S15 motors. I belive the S14 motor with uncut ECU, etc. averages at approx. $4,000. US. Happy hunting. I brought back a Spec R set-up, motor, uncut harness, ecu, trans, driveshaft, the complete rear end incl. subframe to Hawaii. Motor, trans, and rearend came on theier own palates. Not cheap, but made my 1990 240sx very happy. Really thinking about putting it into a 1970-1973 Z. Well good luck with your build.
  20. Thank you everyone for all your input. I really hope I can find a car to start on. Off the subject. I have 3 Nissan 240sxes. My favorite one was hit by a drunk driver while she was parked. Would any parts be salvagable for use in the Datsun 240z?
  21. That's great news!!! A friend of mine found some pretty trick wheels that are in +12 and + 15! I've read about some people going all the way to a 9in. wide wheel in the front. That's really cool. My Starion had the GT wheels at 16x9 front and 16x10 rear. I miss that car. Thank you very much for the info. Now its time to look for some 17x9 front and perhaps 17x10.5 rear wheels from Japan!
  22. Wow! You're using OS Giken. Is it just the clutch? My 240sx just uses the Nismo super copper mix clutch. Not to get off track, but I've seen a chart listing the L28 & trans. at approx. 530lbs and the RB26 & trans. at approx. 720lbs. If this is true, would it help to lighten the front i.e. CF fenders, headlight buckets, etc. Does anyone make CF beyond just the hood, hatch, and taillight section? Sorry about wandering.
  23. I've just recieved an email from my friend explaining the 2 versions of trans. from HKS. First of all it costs approx. $10,500. US. depending on the conversion rate at the time. Nismo will not ship it to the US. Shipping is determined through the weight as well as size of packaging and the gear ratios are as follows. 1st: ver. 1=2.519 ver. 2=2.701 2nd: ver. 1=1.820 ver. 2=1.904 3rd: ver. 1=1.300 ver. 2=1.343 4th: ver. 1=1.000 ver. 2=1.246 5th: ver. 1=0.807 ver. 2=0.832 6th: ver. 1=0.650 ver. 2=0.734. HKS USA will not import this trans. into the US, either. Why not? I'll try to get info on the Nismo trans. a.s.a.p.
  24. I don't know how to put up pics but I do have 1 or 2 photos of it. A friend of mine in Japan has a shop in Osaka. His current shop/demo car is an R33. He's swapping out his Nismo trans. for an HKS custom-geared and custom final drived trans. So he emailed me inquiring if I wanted to pick up his "old one". Makes me sick that they never offered the Skyline in America.
  25. Thank you. A searchin I will go. No sarccasm intended. Its just that I stopped after page 17 because everyone had spoken of -19 offet, etc. Unfortunately no one spoke of any plus sizes except through the use of spacers for the use of more modern types of wheels made today. I really like the classic look of a deep dish, but would like to try it with a larger wheel like the Domestic guys are doing now. Thank you again for your input. I'll keep looking.
