Lewis Maudlin
OK, so if I want to spend $3000 on motor and accessories? What should I buy? Any opinions? I need everything for the swap plus any incidentals that would be a good idea.
SR240Z
sr20det engine, transmission, ecu, harness, maf and ignitor is usually around 2000-2600 depending where you buy from. On top of that i would suggest you get a good front mount intercooler and 3" mandrel bent exhaust
SR240Z
also lewis, i would basically be able to only supply you with the engine cradle mount and also with any aftermarket parts you want to buy as well.
Guest PROJECTRB240SX
you may want to set asaid a bit more than that.... Your going to need the engine set, fuel pump assembly (with surge tank), engine cradle assembly, driveshaft, custom exhaust, fmic setup (not required but recommended), and alot more..... there is always the 'while I'm at its' and the 'oops I forgot thats'. Guest PROJECTRB240SX
ohh its also recommended to change the water pump, clutch, and plugs at least when doing an engine swap.
SR240Z
yea water pump and oil pump are recommended to change, you will definitely be over $3000 though
Lewis Maudlin
Is there a recommended fmic? If I get the fmic, do I need the ecu and harness? Can I save any on the engine if I go with the fmic? So SR240, you can supply me with the engine, the mounts, the water and oil pumps, anything else? FMIC? What kind of money. My e-mail is lewismaudlin@yahoo.com
SR240Z
fmic is an extra option, the only way to run with the stock smic that the sr20 comes with is if you get a full front clip which costs more. But i can get you an fmic that is 24x11x3 core or 29.5x11x3 overall for $260 plus shipping.
Lewis Maudlin
Ok, does the fuel pump you sell have a surge tank set up? How did you set up your surge tank? Also how much for the engine cradle? I would like to order on Wednesday when my mechanic should come through.
SR240Z
Here is how a surge tank is made and how it works http://www.sdsefi.com/techsurge.htm. Engine cradle is $300 plus shipping
Shisho
I think it should also be mentioned that there are differnt prices for SRs due to the Red or Black Top S13 motors, the Black Top S14 motor with variable valve timing, the Spec S S15 motor and the top of the line Spec R S15 motors. I belive the S14 motor with uncut ECU, etc. averages at approx. $4,000. US. Happy hunting. I brought back a Spec R set-up, motor, uncut harness, ecu, trans, driveshaft, the complete rear end incl. subframe to Hawaii. Motor, trans, and rearend came on theier own palates. Not cheap, but made my 1990 240sx very happy. Really thinking about putting it into a 1970-1973 Z. Well good luck with your build.
christiansagun
I see. So the swap is going to cost more that 3000 dollars. One question sr240z, are you guys going to provide the driveshaft also?
SR240Z
you need to bring the stock driveshaft and we go from there
