GLENN280ZX
You Can, If The Cylinders Are Worn Close To Very Worn Out Specs. To Try And Hone Alot Of Mat. Would Be Detrimetal To The Stones And Alot Of Heat In The Bore.
dr_hunt
Why would you want to do that?

No, i'm not building an engine atm....these are just things i've been wondering about[/quote'] Technically speaking, a hone hones and a boring bars bore. When using a hone, it relies on the condition (shape) of the cylinder and will follow that condition for the most part. Basically, without boring a cylinder and using only a hone, you will not have precise control of the process. Spend the money and do it right the first time. Sometimes cutting corners is a sure way for spending more money in the long run!
