Guest st0878
I have a mint condition 81 280zx (non-Turbo) engine that only had 1900 miles on it when the car was totalled. The engine was put into a wharehouse since then and is in absolutley mint condition with the original oil and filter! I want to put it in my 76 280z. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this? Also I posted on another site and someone told me that the zx intake wouldn't work but didn't give me any explanation. As far as I can see everything should plug up the same. Does anyone know of a reason why I wouldn't be able to just swap out the engine? I was really looking forward to seeing how the engine would perform in an original factory state, without having to start swaping out components. Also if anyone has a diagram that shows where all the vacume lines conect I would appreciate it. BTW I will be using the distributor off of the 76 engine. Thanks in advance for your input. jtmny1999
I think it should be fine to use the different intake. Alot of people actually change from turbo intake to the NA one because of all those extra smog addon's. The only problem can be that the cylinder head is different but i belive it should work not 100% sure.
ecp48
I put a 1981 N/A 280ZX motor (complete) in my 75 280Z in 1982. It worked fine. Anything I had no connection for was blocked off or plugged. No problem and ran stronger than the original.
Guest DoTheDrew888
You could just swap the intake and exhaust manifold from the old engine onto the new engine. Don't even worry about messing with the ZX manifolds.
