Guest ON3GO
found on another forum... pretty neat! This is in a Merkur XR4Ti. For those that don't know, its the US equivilant of the European Escort (totally different than ours). They were sold here for a few years with the Turbo 2.3 motor but never did well due to poor marketing. They are about 2900 lbs stock and have an IRS rear suspension. Here are the specs: R Block based 331 stroker short block AFR 185 heads RPM II intake Lunati cam (came with the short block) T04R turbo Home made headers with Tail wastegate No intercooler for now and 5psi spring in wastegate T56 transmission with Viper gearset GMC Syclone AWD transfer Astrovan front diff with 4:10 gears 8.8 rear diff with 4:10 gears and torsen 99 Mustang Cobra brakes Here's a basic web site with some pics. http://home.comcast.net/~xr4x4ti/V8_AWD_Pictures.htm mike

Tim240z
Sorry Mike...incorrecty information supplied. The Merkur XR4Ti is not a European Escort, but rather a Ford Sierra. A real POS that I would not touch with a 10 foot barge pole. It has a terrible reputation for low build quality, reliability issues and on and on. It was released also as the Sierra XR8, which came with a 302ci V8. My Dad raced one very successfully for several years.
datsunlover
I almost bought an XR4Ti a few years ago.. First turbo car I had ever driven and WOW did that thing move... Than I started doing some reaserch and discoverd they are not really a very good car, despite being pretty quick.. Also, the prices for replacment parts (in Canada anyway) of any sort are insane.. Cool swap though, I'll bet that thing goes like a scared rabbit on rails..
EZ-E
That is a cool hybrid swap, I think the reason they didnt do so well here in the states is simply this, its one ugly car!
