Tim240z
Lost dial tone on my home phone yesterday (MCI). Getting through to someone via cell phone was brutal, then ended up talking to someone in India, or some other 3rd world country. I was so frustrated and downright angry after the whole ordeal (at this point I still have no landline service). I just ordered Vonage. I have spoken to several people who have it and love it, so I pulled the trigger and ordered it. The monthly charge will be way less than half what I am paying MCI now, so it should be good. Anyone here using it?

mario_82_ZXT
My family uses Skype. We have local only at home, and we rarely use long distance. We use Skype to talk to relatives in Mexico, as it is way cheaper then anything else out there. Vonage looks good if you use long distance a lot, and their international isn't that bad either. All that matters for Skype and our DSL is that sometimes (mostly Sunday nights) you get some lag and echo, since so many people are using it. Guest blue73z
I've been using Vonage for a year now and my brother has had it for about 1.5 years with no complaints. If your high speed provider is reliable you shouldn't have any trouble; if you do you can set it up through the vonage website so calls get forwarded to a different phone if it goes unanswered for a specified period of time (I have mine set up to send the call to my cell phone). Make sure you set up the 911 service (they'll send you plenty of emails reminding you to do so). Aaron
Tim240z
Thanks for the feedback guys. I have Earthlink Cable modem service which has been 100% reliable for the 2 years that I have had it, so I am not worried about that. For $25 bucks a month, it appears to be a great deal, esp. since there aren't all the extra Government fees and taxes tacked on....I am paying $55 for basic service from MCI (which doesn't include out of area calls), so I will be saving more than $400 a year on phone service!
