GOTHALOSISM
Well its time for me to post that I of all people do not know what in the heck i am doing... I decided to drive my car to work today and heard this popping noise. Of course i had almost no power. So what i did was check my cylinders, and guess what i found out.... I'm running on 2 of the 6... ouch... now come s the fun part I have no idea what i should do to fix this problem.... Is it change the head gasket or spark plugs first??? Any help would be much appreciated... ________________________________ 1979 280zx (snot rag)
akeizm
I would check your spark plugs, spark plug leads and distributor cap (I found I was running on 5 cylinders because 1 of the leads came out of the distributor cap). Any one of those can stop a cylinder from firing. When you lost the 4 cylinders, was it all at once, or was it gradually getting worse? AK-Z
check is you have spark by checking ayour connections from cap to plugs, while the engine is running remove the wire from a plug and hold it about 1/2 inche from the plug. if you have spark, you should be about to see a spark arc across to the plug. repeat with the other plugs. if no spark then either the plug needs to be replaced or the rotor/cap needs to be replaced. not really all that expensive, probably about $40.
