Guest Anonymous
well i have about all i can stand right about now. you wouldn't beleive waht happened to me tonight just 2 hours ago. i came home around 11:30PM from work (burgerking) and was watching TV when i noticed a a strange glow coming from the window behind me. so i get up and look out the window the see THE WHOLE FRIGGIN FRONT END OF MY CAR ENGULFED IN FLAMES . well i yell "HOLY **** MY CARS ON FIRE" and of cousre my mom and sister come running out of their rooms after they hear me. my mom grabbed the phone as soo as she had heard my voice but my sister strarted screaming and generally making a nuisance of herself. i was going to go use the garden hose on it but they wouldn't let me go out near it. we heard a series of fairly loud explosions that where the tires blowing out and ont of the shocks actually shot out about six feet ahead of the car. about two unbearable minutes later the firemen show up and start to hose down my car. then the break the driverside window and check out the interior. which oddly enough not even the dash is melted. the car is totoaled the whole fron nose of the car has melted into a big puddle infront of te car. i also saw a puddle of aluminum and asked one of the firemen what it was his reply was "oh that used to be your radiator" needless to say i am severely pissed off/bummed out right now. my mom couldn't really care less and seems to think i caused it by tinkering on the car. i had an ooil leak that hit the exhaust manifold that i was trying to fix but i know that wasn't what caused it. i have had this leak for over a week now with never nce having a fire happn and i would drive it all day long. this i only drove it to work and back that was it. i just don't understand. the worse part is i almost got fired from work today as well because of a stupid mistake a manager made. they changed my scheule and did not tell me so i had 2 no call no shows on my record. they didn't fire me but know i am getting only 11 hours a week . then throw in the fact that the night before last i had some drunk jackasses in a jeep throwing stuff at my window and trying to run me off the road. and and not to forget, also add in some problems with my current college classes to where i don't think i'll be able to go anymore just for good measure and you basically have what the last week has been like for me. yeah, it's been beutiful! AAAAARRRGGHHHHH!!!!

denny411
That sucks, are you sure the car can`t be rebuilt? If not I guess you`ll have to find a donor.

Guest Anonymous
just a quickie update for you guys. no my car can't be rebuilt. the whole front end is basically gone. most of it beside the frame and fenders was fiberglass/plastic so it's just a puddle in front of the car for now. everything from the dash back s still good though and i plan on trying to sell it for parts. the biggest thing i have to report is apperently ford has some sort of lawsuit against them about ars catching on fire due to a bad ignitiion/alternator design. so i have contacted a lawyer and am waitng to hear from him and depending on what he says i will get an idependant ivestigatio report done by a fire marshall. i am glad to report that i can prove that the fire wasn't due to my tinkering. in fact about the only spot that made it out halfway alive was the area i tinkered in. so that made me feel better and served to shut the critics up. my mom and a few others feel that since i changed the turbo that must have been the problem. why is the thing people understand the least is what they always blame first? they don't know what they are talking about but somehow they magically know enough to know that your wrong. the worst critic had to be my mom, nothing against her but she can be SO stubborn (at least i know where i get it from ) i would tell her to walk out to the car and look with her own eyes. it's apparnt to anybody with common sense that the turbo couldn't have started the fire. but she would refuse to look and still say it was cause i tinkered with it. that can be so aggravating i tell you. i finally managed to drag her out there though and she quited down. i'll let you guys know what the lawyer says he should be getting back to me tommorrow
Guest Anonymous
This whole time I thought we were talking about a Z. What kind of car was it? Hope it turns out to be Ford's fault.
Guest the_dj
Wait a sec..... It wasn't a Z? You mean I cried about a family death and it turns out it's not even related to my cars??? Hope everything turns out good in the end Sam
Guest Anonymous
ya i know it wasn't z related but you guys are the best bunch of people i know and i just had to vent, know what i mean. unfortunetly the fire did indirectly put a crimp on my ZX project. it looks like the ZX will have to be put on hold till i can find a solution to my dilemma. on the brightside the death of my 87 T-bird turbocoupe did also give rise to another datsun hybrid. i was out looking for a replacement vehicle the other day and i found two datsuns for free. one is a 71 datsun 1200 and the other is a 7? datsun 210. the 210 is in premo shape and it even looks like the motor was rebuilt recently but it has no title. the 1200 needs some body work done and the motor is shot. so for now i'm going to take the drivetrain out of the 210 and transplant it into the 1200. also i'm thinking of trying to swap as much of the suspension from my ZX to it as i can since i was planning on buying a road race setup for it anyway. i think the front brakes should swap easiy. but i don't know what i'll do about the rear drums. hmmm.. i wonder if i can get the sway bars to swap as well... the hybrid part comes from the fact that i'm going to pull the 2.3 turbo motor out of the deceased car and put it in my storage unit till i get back from boot camp. then i 'll have it hot tanked, reringed, an esslinger head, cam, t3/4, 302 TB, FMIC, and SDS. i think this should prove to be a fairly street lethal machine anybody know the curb weight on a 1971 1200? the car is stripped interior wise but the dash is still intact. anyway i would be willing to guess that this thing must weigh in at 2000 or even less. oh and before i forget, i talked to the laywer yesterday and i got some good news/bad news. the good news is he thinks i would have a legitimate case and has heard of this problem alot with certain ford cars. even he has had an alternator almost catch fire on him. the bad news is that he doesn't know if it would be worth it in the end to go ahed with the suit. he figured by the time that i got done hiring specialists/experts and lywer fees that even if i did win and get reimbursed for the price of the car i might end up owing more in fees than i get back. so i'm going to hae a fire marshall inspect it (free) and decide on where to go from there depending on what he says. thaks for the support guys i really appreciate it
