V-8 914 Porche

Guys, that RX7 swap was SWEET! As a matter of fact it didn't add any weight and the guy that did it built the motor to spin 7K+ just like a rotary. He used an aluminum block, heads, the works and it was fuel injected. He pulled all the Mazda and RX7 emblems off the car - it's his onw now ;)

If you search our forums you'll find where he posted here. I invited him here after the twits in the RX7 forum bashed him. That man was NO fool, he had built a couple of NASTY rotaries and was about to drop in a really nice one when he decided it wasn't worth blowing yet another one. He'd been through several and had taken his car about as far as it could be taken.

Keep a 13B under 400HP and it's not too bad in the reliability dept. but start going crazy with boost and one hiccup can ruin your day!

BTW, I'm selling my 93FD3. It runs like a raped ape and has a pile of mods but liek everyone else here I want more power and to try for that will simply trash the car. :(

Personally, I want a Lotus Europa with a nasty turbo rotary or a Datsun 510. The Lotus I'm thinking of is TINY and really low to the ground. A 914 would do me too but I think I'd skip th eV8 and go with something smallerlighter and TURBO CHARGED

Those 914's are soo cool. I remember when I was 15 looking to buy my first car I was looking at RX7's, Porche 914's and a 280zxt. Needless to say I got the turbo Z and never looked back. I wouldn't mind owning one though...if I had one a V8 would be hidden under the hood! b_hand.gif

I think the key here is being open minded. I once had someone on another site tell me that they were gonna stuff a big motor in a Ford Fiesta just because I did my V8 conversion... The guy was being smart about it, but I found some data where someone in Germany had done just that very thing... What I'm trying to say here is that YOU don't have to understand why someone else would do a conversion to their car, as it is just THAT... Their car.

Closed minds close doors... HybridZ is about opening them!

Have fun!

Mike

Hey BLKMGK, there's a company in PA called Laminar Concepts that makes what they call a Evolution Europa. It's a 13B powered Porsche 901 tranny'd... let's imagine 350hp easy and 1600lbs. It's filed away into my "someday" pile from the July 2001 issue of Kit Car magazine. Their website seems to be under construction right now.

Z ya later
