kraymond
A found a Q45 and will go to pull the differential. Are all Q45 rearends the same? It has the aluminum rear cover that slopes out at the bottom with the big 6 bolt flanges. What is the minimum amount of tools needed to pull it and does anyone have any tips? PeterZ
One smoke-wrench will is about the fewest amount of tools I can think of that will cover everything you could possibly encounter in a junkyard.
kraymond
The car is at a pick-a-part with no torches allowed. Just thought someone out there could save me a little time and hassle.
Dayz
Same thing as every other diff: Your ratchet, box 12mm, 17mm, 19mm, and 14mm I believe. You also need wrenches of the same size, for the flanges and the drive shaft. You need a breaker bar( or a pice of pipe with the ratchet) some vise grip to block some bolts from turning (drive shaft bolts) a 34mm or 36 mm to take the axles out. A long pry bar for blocking the wheel when trying to pull axle nut out. You will also need a beer for the break time (after you hit your knuckles). The whole process will take you 1-2 hours. Good luck
kraymond
Ok who knows what size the axle nut is on the Q45 34mm 0r 36mm? I will have to go buy one on the way to pick-a-part.
kraymond
Thanks, I would not have thought about bringing a socket that big. Mission accomplished no busted knuckles.I went ahead and bought a 3/4" drive metric socket set. I'm going back in the morning to get another one.
