Guest ON3GO Posted November 17, 2005 Share Posted November 17, 2005 Im looking for a tranny upgrade for the Hulk Z. right now it has a 280zx n/a 5-speed but i dont see that lasting behind that L28ET in it. i want to keep this car a car i can do anything in it, drag, street, auto-x, road race.. so no automatic for me. but i do want the concept of say a 2 speed powerglide in terms of gearing. i figure why do a 5 speed, thats just one extra gear to shift to. i wanna stay in my powerband and in gear as long as i can, so i figure a long geared 4 speed would be perfect. am i wrong or right on this? anybody have any ideas on a 4-speed that can be built up or is already made that can handle 500+hp and torque? thanks mike Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

GrayZee Posted November 17, 2005 Share Posted November 17, 2005 Look into the gear ratio's available with the Datsun 4speeds that were available in the old Z's. I think you will find the ratios in 1st and 2nd to be most undesirable for use with the power and torque of a L28et.
